A hot new reading challenge has entered the villa… BOOKOPOLY!
When Jess (@knit.plan.jess) first asked me if I wanted to do a reading challenge with her, I leapt at the chance. And when she mentioned that she wanted to do a reading monopoly board? Yeah, your girl was all over it.
So we’re happily presenting BOOKOPOLY - a yearlong reading challenge to encourage you to read more, try books out of your comfort zone, and add a little fun to the process.
THE RULES
In order to be eligible for prizes (yes, we said prizes!), you must follow @planwithemm and @knit.plan.jess on Instagram.
Bookopoly play starts on January 1st and ends on December 31st. This is a yearly challenge, so you can take it as fast or as slow as you’d like.
Each book you read can only be used for one prompt. Namely, you can’t use Every Summer After as both “read for a book club” and “second chance romance”, it’s one or the other! In order to make the tracking easier for us, please include the title that you read for the prompt. (So this could be by writing the name above/below it or covering the prompt with an image of the book cover. We’re not picky!)
Be sure to tag us in your stories so that we know you’re participating. You get 1 entry for participating, and then extra entires for each monopoly (all of one color/type) and 5 extra entries for a complete blackout. This board is a little bit different than your standard Monopoly game, as every single square has a prompt! So collecting all of the railroads, chance spaces, etc will ALSO count for a monopoly!
The deadlines for prizes are 3/31, 6/30, 9/30, and 12/31, so be sure to share your boards and tag us before then! This ensures that you have the maximum (and correct) number of entries.
You must have an Amazon wishlist or equivalent linked in your bio so that we can safely deliver your prize.
An optional rule is that you roll dice to determine which prompt you’re completing next! This one is just for funsies and won’t give you any extra entries.
If you want to play along on Storygraph, you can do that here. Just keep in mind that not all of the prompts are contained there, especially those with duplicates or that aren’t associated with specific books. We recommend copying the below image and using it in Canva or your journal for tracking purposes! The Canva project that you can copy and use to track your reading is available here.
So what do you think? Do you have a favorite prompt? Are there any prompts that you’ll need recommendations for? Let me know in the comments!
